Dr. Husam H. Balkhy is the Director of the Center for Robotic and Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, Chairman of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at TheWisconsin Heart Hospital and Clinical Assistant Professor of surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Husam H. Dr. Balkhy is well known for his strong advocacy of less invasive cardiac surgery. He was one of the first surgeons in the country to apply minimally invasive techniques for Atrial Fibrillation Surgery using a Thoracoscopic approach. He has embraced Port Access minimally invasive valve surgery for all isolated valve procedures. As a leader in off pump coronary bypass surgery, Dr. Balkhy has participated in several multicenter randomized studies. Most recently, he participated as a principle investigator in the EPIC PAS-Port proximal anastomotic device clinical trial. In addition, Dr. Balkhy has the largest experience in the U.S. with clinically approved distal anastomotic devices. He has incorporated this experience in achieving one of the largest series of Robotic Total Endoscopic coronary bypass procedures in the U.S. Dr. Balkhy has trained numerous surgeons and presented at multiple professional meetings on these minimally invasive techniques in cardiac surgery.Dr. Husam H.
